The BMW X5 price in India starts at ₹96.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The top version costs ₹1.13 crore. But the price you pay on the road is much higher. In Bangalore, the base X5 crosses ₹1.2 crore. In Delhi, it is close to ₹1.12 crore. Here are the latest prices for all four variants, the on-road price in big cities, and the variant we would buy.
BMW X5 price list 2026 (ex-showroom)
BMW sells the X5 in two trims with two engines. The base trims are called xDrive40i (petrol) and xDrive30d (diesel). The top trims add the M Sport Pro pack. All four are made in Chennai.
| Variant | Engine | Ex-showroom price |
|---|---|---|
| X5 xDrive40i | 3.0 litre petrol | ₹96,90,000 |
| X5 xDrive30d | 3.0 litre diesel | ₹98,90,000 |
| X5 xDrive40i M Sport Pro | 3.0 litre petrol | ₹1,11,40,000 |
| X5 xDrive30d M Sport Pro | 3.0 litre diesel | ₹1,13,40,000 |
These prices are from BMW India's official website and online configurator, checked on 23 October 2026. Some websites call the base trims xLine. It is the same car. See all prices on our BMW X5 price page.
Why the X5 price changed in the last year
BMW India launched the updated X5 on 28 August 2025. Then GST on big cars came down from 22 September 2025. Earlier, buyers paid 28 percent GST plus 22 percent cess. Now it is a flat 40 percent. BMW cut the X5 price by up to ₹7.65 lakh.
In 2026, BMW India raised prices twice, from 1 April and from 1 July. Each time it said the hike would be up to 2 percent. So the X5 now costs a little more than it did after the GST cut, but still less than at launch.
| Variant | Launch price (Aug 2025) | After GST cut (Sep 2025) | Price now (Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| xDrive40i | ₹1,00,30,000 | ₹93,60,000 | ₹96,90,000 |
| xDrive30d | ₹1,02,30,000 | ₹95,50,000 | ₹98,90,000 |
| xDrive40i M Sport Pro | ₹1,13,00,000 | ₹1,05,45,000 | ₹1,11,40,000 |
| xDrive30d M Sport Pro | ₹1,15,00,000 | ₹1,07,35,000 | ₹1,13,40,000 |
BMW X5 on-road price in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi
The on-road price adds road tax, registration, insurance and 1 percent TCS to the ex-showroom price. Road tax is the biggest part, and it changes a lot from state to state. That is why the same X5 costs about ₹10 lakh more in Bangalore than in Delhi.
| City | xDrive40i | xDrive30d | xDrive40i M Sport Pro | xDrive30d M Sport Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bangalore | ₹1.22 crore | ₹1.24 crore | ₹1.40 crore | ₹1.43 crore |
| Mumbai | ₹1.15 crore | ₹1.19 crore | ₹1.32 crore | ₹1.37 crore |
| Delhi | ₹1.12 crore | ₹1.17 crore | ₹1.29 crore | ₹1.34 crore |
| Chennai | ₹1.22 crore | ₹1.24 crore | ₹1.40 crore | ₹1.43 crore |
| Hyderabad | ₹1.23 crore | ₹1.25 crore | ₹1.41 crore | ₹1.44 crore |
These are approximate on-road prices worked out by car4you for October 2026. We used each state's road tax rate, 1 percent TCS, a normal first year insurance plan and usual registration fees. Your final price will depend on the dealer, the insurance you choose, any accessories and any offer running that month. Always ask the dealer for a written price breakup.
Bangalore: Karnataka charges one of the highest road taxes in India. For a car above ₹20 lakh, it is 18 percent plus an 11 percent cess on that tax. That works out to almost 20 percent. CarWale lists the base X5 at ₹1,22,87,924 on-road in Bangalore. That includes about ₹20.16 lakh for registration and ₹4.85 lakh for insurance. See the BMW X5 on-road price in Bangalore.
Mumbai: Maharashtra charges 13 percent road tax on a petrol car above ₹20 lakh and 15 percent on a diesel car. So the diesel X5 costs about ₹4 lakh more on-road than the petrol. CarWale lists the base petrol at ₹1,15,28,417 in Mumbai. See the BMW X5 on-road price in Mumbai.
Delhi: Delhi has the lowest tax of these cities. Petrol cars above ₹10 lakh pay 10 percent and diesel cars pay 12.5 percent. CarWale lists the base petrol at ₹1,12,15,523. CarDekho shows almost the same figure. See the BMW X5 on-road price in Delhi.
In Chennai, road tax is 20 percent. In Hyderabad, it is 21 percent for cars above ₹50 lakh. Check the Chennai and Hyderabad on-road pages for more.
BMW X5 engine, power and mileage
Both engines are 3.0 litre six cylinder units with a 48 volt mild hybrid system. Both use an 8 speed automatic gearbox and xDrive all wheel drive. Air suspension is standard.
| Spec | xDrive40i (petrol) | xDrive30d (diesel) |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 2,998 cc, 6 cylinder turbo | 2,993 cc, 6 cylinder turbo |
| Power | 381 hp | 286 hp |
| Torque | 520 Nm | 650 Nm |
| 0 to 100 km/h | 5.4 seconds | 6.1 seconds |
| Claimed mileage | 12 km/l | 12 km/l |
| Gearbox | 8 speed automatic | 8 speed automatic |
| Drive | xDrive all wheel drive | xDrive all wheel drive |
The mild hybrid system can add up to 12 hp and 200 Nm for a short time. In real driving, expect less than the claimed 12 km/l, mainly in city traffic. The diesel has more pulling power and feels relaxed on long drives. The petrol is quicker and smoother.
Every X5 in India also gets the xOffroad pack as standard. It adds four extra drive modes for sand, rocks, gravel and snow.

What you get in the base X5
The base xDrive40i and xDrive30d are not basic at all. Every X5 gets 21 inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, four zone climate control and a 16 speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Inside, you get BMW's curved display. It has a 12.3 inch driver screen and a 14.9 inch touchscreen. The front seats are electric with memory for the driver. The seats come in brown Sensafin, a soft leather-like material, and the dash gets wood trim.
For safety and parking, you get front, side and curtain airbags, a 360 degree camera, a drive recorder and Parking Assistant Professional. That last one can park the car while you control it from your phone. Run flat tyres and BMW Digital Key Plus are also standard.
What the M Sport Pro adds
The M Sport Pro costs ₹14.50 lakh more than the base trim with the same engine. Here is what that money buys.
Looks: M body kit, gloss black trim, a grille that lights up, M alloy wheels, red brake calipers and a sportier exhaust.
Comfort: cooled front seats, soft close doors, Merino leather, glass gear lever and controls, and an M leather steering wheel.
Tech: a head-up display, a better navigation system with an augmented reality view, and adaptive LED headlights with a smart high beam that does not dazzle oncoming drivers.
Which BMW X5 variant should you buy?
Pick the xDrive30d diesel if you drive a lot on highways. It costs only ₹2 lakh more than the petrol. It has much more torque and is easy to drive fast with a full load. But keep in mind that Delhi NCR rules let diesel cars run for only 10 years.
Pick the xDrive40i petrol if you live in Delhi NCR or drive mostly in the city. It is quicker, quieter and has lower road tax in Delhi and Mumbai. It is also the cheapest way into an X5.
Pick the M Sport Pro if you want the full luxury feel. Cooled seats make a real difference in Indian summers. You also get the head-up display and better lights. If you will keep the car for many years, this is the version that will feel special for longer.
Our pick is the xDrive30d M Sport Pro for most buyers outside Delhi NCR. If your budget stops at about ₹1 crore ex-showroom, the base xDrive30d still gives you all the key comfort and safety features.
Running costs and warranty
BMW sells Service Inclusive packs for the X5. The Basic pack for 3 years or 40,000 km costs ₹1,01,900 plus tax. The Plus pack costs ₹1,77,800 plus tax. A third year of extended warranty costs ₹74,500. The standard warranty is 2 years with no km limit.
Should you wait for the new X5?
BMW has shown the next generation X5 abroad. A long wheelbase version was shown for China in July 2026. Autocar India reports that India will get this long wheelbase X5 in 2027. BMW India has not confirmed a date or price yet. A new model will most likely cost more. If you need a car now, the current X5 is a proven choice.
