The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most famous off-road SUVs in the world. In India, it is put together at Jeep's Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra. If you are planning to buy one, the first question is simple. How much does it cost in 2026?
The Wrangler now starts at Rs 67.70 lakh and goes up to Rs 72.30 lakh for the regular range (ex-showroom). A limited Whitecap Mojito Edition was priced at Rs 73.55 lakh, but it is already sold out. Here are the variant prices, approximate on-road prices in big cities and which version suits whom.

The Unlimited and Rubicon prices are as listed by CarWale in October 2026. Autocar India confirms the Whitecap Mojito Edition costs Rs 1.25 lakh more than the Rubicon, which matches the Rs 72.30 lakh Rubicon price. Jeep's own website was still showing older prices (Rs 66.20 lakh and Rs 70.80 lakh) when we checked, so please confirm the final price with your dealer.
Wrangler engine and gearbox
Every Wrangler in India uses the same engine. It is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol. There is no diesel.

Unlimited vs Rubicon: what is the difference?
Both versions look similar, but they are made for different buyers.
Wrangler Unlimited (Rs 67.70 lakh): This is the one for people who will drive mostly on roads, with an odd weekend trail. It gets 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres, powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six airbags and ADAS.
Wrangler Rubicon (Rs 72.30 lakh): This is for serious off-roading. It gets heavy-duty Dana axles, front and rear differential locks, a sway bar that can be disconnected, an off-road camera in the grille, rock rails and chunkier off-road tyres on 17-inch wheels. Inside, it adds Nappa leather seats and a 9-speaker Alpine sound system.
The extra Rs 4.6 lakh for the Rubicon makes sense only if you plan to take the car to tough trails. For city and highway use, the Unlimited is enough.
What was the Whitecap Mojito Edition?
Jeep announced the Wrangler Rubicon Whitecap Mojito Edition on 13 October 2026 at Rs 73.55 lakh. Only 25 units came to India, out of 250 made worldwide. All 25 were sold before the launch, says Jeep India.
It gets a bright green Mojito paint, a white hardtop, a white grille and 1941 decals. Inside, it adds a built-in dashcam and stronger grab handles. Mechanically it is the same as the Rubicon. Jeep said it may bring the edition back in the future, but nothing is confirmed.

The table below adds only state road tax to the ex-showroom price. We used the road tax rate for a petrol car above Rs 20 lakh in each state. Insurance, registration, FASTag and other charges are extra. So treat these as rough, lower-end figures and ask your dealer for the final number.

As you can see, the same Wrangler can cost about Rs 10 lakh more in Hyderabad than in Ahmedabad. That is only because of road tax. Insurance alone on a car this expensive can add a few lakh more.

Who are its rivals?

The Wrangler is not a sensible car, and that is the point. It is built for people who love off-roading and want an icon in their garage. Buy the Unlimited if you mostly drive on roads. Pay more for the Rubicon only if you will truly use its off-road hardware. And because road tax changes so much from state to state, always check the on-road price in your own city before you book.
