Tesla has been selling cars in India for a little over a year now. But many buyers still search for the Model S, Model 3 or Model X and find they are not on sale here. So which Teslas can you actually buy in India in 2026, and what do they cost?
The short answer is two cars. Tesla itself says the Model Y and the Model Y L are the only models it sells in India right now. On 17 October 2026, it also opened online bookings for the new Roadster. Here is a simple guide to all three.

Tesla Model Y price in India
The Model Y is Tesla's five-seat electric SUV. It is now sold in one version in India, the Premium Rear-Wheel Drive.
Its price came down in May 2026. Tesla cut it by Rs 9 lakh, from Rs 59.89 lakh to Rs 50.89 lakh, as reported by Autocar India and The Hindu BusinessLine. At the same time, Tesla stopped selling the Long Range RWD version, which cost Rs 67.89 lakh.

Tesla Model Y L price in India
The Model Y L is a longer, six-seat version of the Model Y. Tesla showed it in India in April 2026 at Rs 61.99 lakh. It has captain seats in the second row and a third row for two more people.
In October 2026, Tesla gave the Model Y L a free Acceleration Boost. With it, the SUV goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Before this, the claimed time was 5.0 seconds.

The second-row seats get powered armrests, heating and cooling. The third row gets power recline and its own air vents, as per Tesla.
Tesla's EMI figures are based on a seven-year loan at 8.5% a year under a step-up plan. Your real EMI will depend on your bank or financier.
Tesla Roadster booking in India
On 17 October 2026, Tesla opened online reservations for the new Roadster in India. This is big news, but read the fine print before you pay.

These are reservation payments shown on Tesla's India booking page. They are not the final price of the car. Tesla has not announced an India price for the Roadster.
Some important points:
- Production starts in 2028.
- At first, Tesla will make only left-hand-drive cars. India needs right-hand drive, and no timeline has been given for that.
- There is no confirmed delivery date for India.
- The first Rs 5.01 lakh is fully refundable, as per Tesla. If you do not pay the rest within 10 days, the booking can be cancelled.
- Thrust is limited to one order per person. Its thruster feature depends on local laws.
So the Roadster booking is more of a place in the queue for now. Do not expect to drive one on Indian roads soon.
What about the Model S, Model 3 and Model X?
These cars are not sold in India by Tesla. You will see their prices on some websites, but those are only estimates or prices from other countries. If you want a Tesla from an Indian showroom today, your choice is the Model Y or the Model Y L.

Tesla charging in India
Tesla says it runs 20 Supercharger stalls and 28 Destination Charger stalls in India. It plans three more sites by the end of 2026. Home charging is available for homes in 23 states.
Tesla also has a Refer and Earn plan. New buyers who use a referral get a Rs 22,000 discount, and the owner who refers them gets Rs 11,000 in credits.
Model Y or Model Y L: which one should you buy?
Buy the Model Y if you are a family of four or five and want the lowest price. At Rs 50.89 lakh, it is now Rs 11.1 lakh cheaper than the Model Y L.
Buy the Model Y L if you need six seats, more range or all-wheel drive. Its 681 km claimed range is also the best of the two.
Our take
Tesla's India line-up is still small, but it is now better priced. The Model Y at about Rs 51 lakh is far more tempting than it was at launch. The Model Y L adds a family option. The Roadster booking is exciting news, but it is a long-term bet with no India delivery date yet.
