Defender 110 new price list in India

The India made Defender 110 comes in one trim. It is called X-Dynamic HSE. You can pick from three engines. Here are the new prices next to the old prices of the fully imported model.

Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE Old price (imported) New price (made in Pune) You save
2.0 litre petrol (P300) Rs 1.13 crore Rs 99 lakh Rs 14 lakh
3.0 litre petrol (P400) Rs 1.52 crore Rs 1.18 crore Rs 34 lakh
3.0 litre diesel (D350) Rs 1.52 crore Rs 1.18 crore Rs 34 lakh

All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi, as announced by JLR India on 27 October 2026 and reported by Autocar India and The Hindu. We could not see a price list on the Land Rover India website yet, so ask your dealer for a written quote before you book. JLR compares the new price with the old imported car that had the same kit, including the extras. So the Rs 34 lakh saving is on a fully loaded car. The final price on the road will be higher. It will include road tax, insurance and other charges, and these change from state to state.

Why is the Defender cheaper now?

Until now, every Defender came to India as a fully built car from abroad. Such cars pay a very high import duty. Now the Defender 110 comes to India as a kit of parts. As reported by Autocar India, these kits come from the Defender plant in Nitra, Slovakia. Workers in Pune then put the car together. A car built this way pays far less tax, so the price falls.

JLR says India is the first market outside Europe to build the Defender. The Pune cars are only for Indian buyers. JLR started making cars in Pune in 2011 with Tata Motors. The plant has built ten JLR models for India so far. The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are already put together there. Read how it worked for the locally made Range Rover Evoque.

Which Defender models are made in India?

Only the Defender 110 in X-Dynamic HSE trim is made in Pune for now. The rest of the range is still imported. That means the three door Defender 90, the long Defender 130, the Defender OCTA and the V8 models do not get the new lower prices.

The Defender 110 is the five door model. It can seat up to seven people. It uses the same D7x body as the global car and gets Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. All three engines come with an eight speed automatic gearbox.

Defender 110 engines and specs

Engine Power (as named by JLR) Gearbox Drive Price
2.0 litre turbo petrol P300, about 300 PS 8 speed automatic All-wheel drive Rs 99 lakh
3.0 litre petrol P400, about 400 PS 8 speed automatic All-wheel drive Rs 1.18 crore
3.0 litre diesel D350, about 350 PS 8 speed automatic All-wheel drive Rs 1.18 crore

The number in each engine name shows its rough power. Autocar India puts these at 300 hp, 400 hp and 350 hp. Torque and mileage figures for the India made car are not out yet. We will add them once JLR shares them.

What new features are now standard?

The price cut is not the only good news. JLR has also made many paid extras standard. Reports say up to 29 items that were once optional are now part of the package.

On the 2.0 litre petrol, the extra kit is worth up to Rs 6.5 lakh, as per JLR. It now gets these as standard.

The ClearSight mirror turns into a camera screen, so luggage or rear passengers do not block your view.

Why this matters for Land Rover in India

The Defender is the best selling Land Rover in India. More than 9,000 Defenders are already on Indian roads, says JLR India. Rajan Amba, Managing Director of JLR India, said the Defender has become a cultural icon here.

JLR hopes the lower price will lift Defender sales by up to 20 percent, as reported by PTI. Lennard Hoornik, Chief Commercial Officer of JLR, said building the Defender in Pune will help the company respond faster to demand.

Is the Defender 110 now a better buy?

Yes, for most buyers who wanted one. At Rs 99 lakh, the Defender now starts close to other luxury SUVs. The Audi Q7 and the BMW X5 also start near the Rs 1 crore mark, as per our model pages. The Mercedes-Benz GLS costs more. None of them can match the Defender off the road.

The 3.0 litre diesel is the pick for long trips and heavy use. It now costs Rs 34 lakh less than before. The 2.0 litre petrol makes sense if you drive mostly in the city. It now also gets air suspension as standard.
