The Bayon uses the same 115PS/144Nm 1.5L petrol as the Creta's base engine, with a 6MT or IVT. The Creta also offers further engines. Autocar India says the next-generation Creta will move upmarket with a wider powertrain line-up that includes a hybrid (Autocar India). A CNG Bayon is expected later but is not confirmed.

Technology

The Bayon brings Hyundai India's first generative AI voice assistant, NVIDIA-accelerated ccNC infotainment, OTA updates for up to 19 controllers and dual 12.3-inch curved displays. These are headline features in this price range.

Verdict (pre-launch)

  • Bayon: For buyers who want Creta-like size and the Creta's 1.5L petrol with the latest tech at a lower expected price.
  • Creta: For buyers who need more engine choices.
  • Victoris: Maruti's rival, with its own range of powertrains. Compare once the Bayon's prices are out.
