Exclusive 7 ₹21,99,800 ₹15,99,000
Essence 5 ₹22,99,800 ₹16,99,000
Essence 7 ₹23,49,800 ₹17,49,000

These are introductory prices from MG's official price list. MG says the BaaS price is only for a limited number of bookings. BaaS means you buy the car without the battery and pay a rent for every km you drive. To see if that saves you money, read our Hector Tomahawk BaaS vs full price guide.

The on-road price depends on your state's road tax, registration and insurance. Many states give tax relief on EVs. You can see estimates on our Hector Tomahawk EV price page.

Battery, range and charging

Every Tomahawk EV gets a 69.2 kWh LFP battery. A single motor drives the front wheels. It makes 150 kW, which is 204 PS, and 310 Nm. MG claims 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.

Spec MG Hector Tomahawk EV
Battery 69.2 kWh LFP (MG calls it MAGIC Battery)
Claimed range 517 km (MIDC test)
Real range in Autocar India test About 446 km overall (495 km city, 397 km highway)
Motor 150 kW (204 PS), 310 Nm, front wheel drive
0 to 100 km/h 8.2 seconds (claimed)
DC fast charging 30 to 80 percent in about 35 minutes (90 kW charger)
AC charging 10 to 100 percent in about 12.5 hours (7.4 kW charger)
Charger with the car 7.4 kW wall box with standard installation, plus a 3.3 kW portable cable
Battery warranty Lifetime for the first private owner

The 517 km figure is a lab number. MG's brochure says it comes from the MIDC test. Some websites call it the ARAI range. It is the same 517 km figure. In the real world you will get less. Autocar India tested the car in Mumbai with the AC on. It gave about 495 km in the city and 397 km on the highway. The overall figure was about 446 km on a full charge. Your range will depend on speed, AC use and traffic.

Autocar India also charged it from 20 to 80 percent in 32 minutes on a 150 kW charger.

The lifetime battery warranty is only for the first private owner. After a sale, it becomes 8 years or 1.6 lakh km. The rest of the car gets 3 years of warranty with no km limit.

Size, space and boot

This is a large SUV. It is 4,745 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,770 mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,810 mm. MG says the battery sits at 230 mm ground clearance, which helps on bad roads.

Boot space depends on the seats. The 7 seater gives 192 litres with all three rows up. Fold the third row and you get 528 litres. The 5 seater has a big 610 litre boot. Fold its second row and that grows to 1,053 litres.

Which Hector Tomahawk EV variant should you buy?

Pick the Exclusive if you want the best value. For ₹2.5 lakh more than Excite, you get the sunroof, cooled seats, 360 degree camera and powered tailgate. Autocar India also picks Exclusive as the one to buy.

Pick the Excite if your budget is tight. It has the same battery, range and 6 airbags. You only miss comfort features. Ask the dealer about the waiting time for this variant before you book.

Pick the Essence 7 seater if you drive a lot on highways. Adaptive cruise and lane keep assist make long trips easier. The bigger screen and better audio are a bonus.

Pick the Essence 5 seater if you never use a third row. It costs ₹50,000 less than the Essence 7 seater and has a much bigger boot.
