Toyota Innova is in the news for three reasons at once. A facelift of the Innova Hycross is now reported for November. A minister says a 100 percent ethanol Innova will launch this month. And the Innova Crysta has become a little more costly. Here is what is known and what is not.

Innova Hycross facelift: what we know

CarToq reported on 14 October that Toyota plans to launch the facelift in November. It cites sources at Toyota. In August, the same site had said mid-October. So the date has already moved once.

Other reports say later. Autocar India and the Times of India both said the facelift would come in 2027 when they covered the first spy photos in July. Toyota has not announced a date. Treat November as a report and not a promise.

The front is the big change. Spy photos show a grille with a honeycomb mesh, like the one on the Toyota Hilux. The headlamps look slimmer. The fog lamps sit higher in the bumper. The side shape looks the same. At the back, the tail lamps look new and are joined by a trim strip. Reports also expect new alloy wheels.

Inside, the layout should stay close to today's car. The test cars show the same free-standing screen. Reports expect a bigger screen and a newer driver display. Toyota has not confirmed any of this.

The engines should stay. Toyota says the 2.0 litre petrol makes 174 PS. The strong hybrid makes 186 PS. CarToq adds that Toyota may add a cheaper hybrid for fleet buyers.

What the Hycross costs today

Toyota says prices start from ₹19.53 lakh ex-showroom. That was in its press note of 9 April 2026. Toyota also says the Hycross has crossed 2 lakh sales since its November 2022 launch. It has a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.

The hybrid costs a lot more. CarToq and V3Cars say the hybrid starts at ₹26.76 lakh. V3Cars lists the top hybrid at ₹32.95 lakh. Autocar India tested both engines on real roads. The petrol gave about 9.7 km per litre. The hybrid gave about 14.6 km per litre.

The 100 percent ethanol Innova

Union minister Nitin Gadkari said at an event in Delhi that he has been invited to the launch of a Toyota Innova. He said it will run on 100 percent ethanol. He said it would launch in October. He also claimed its running cost would match petrol at about ₹25 a litre.

Toyota has not confirmed any of this. It has not named a model, a price or a date. ET Now and CarToq both point this out. As of 18 October, we found no launch notice.

The idea is not new. In August 2023 Toyota showed a flex-fuel Innova Hycross prototype. It joined a flex-fuel engine to the strong hybrid. The government said at the time that the car still needed refining, homologation and certification.

Fuel is the real problem. Pumps that sell E85 or E100 are rare in India. CarToq says the Maruti WagonR Bioflex can run on blends up to E100. It launched in June at ₹7.24 lakh. It got only a handful of registrations in its first weeks. A car that can use ethanol is only useful if you can buy ethanol.

Innova Crysta price rise

V3Cars reported on 13 October that Toyota raised Crysta prices by ₹22,000 to ₹33,000. That is about 1.1 to 1.3 percent. Carowala also reports the rise. We found no Toyota notice. Autocar India's page still shows the old prices at the time of writing.

Variant (diesel manual) Old price New price
GX 7-seater ₹19.72 lakh ₹19.95 lakh
GX Plus 8-seater ₹21.20 lakh ₹21.47 lakh
VX 8-seater ₹24.98 lakh ₹25.29 lakh
ZX 7-seater ₹26.63 lakh ₹26.96 lakh

This is the second rise this year. We covered the January rise earlier. The Crysta may also be near the end of its run. Autocar India reported in January that Toyota will stop the diesel Crysta around March 2027 because of CAFE 3 fuel rules. Toyota would not comment on future products. A cheaper hybrid Hycross is reported to take its place with fleet buyers.
