A Software-Defined Vehicle

Volvo describes the EX90 as its first software-defined vehicle (SDV) in India, which means many of its functions are controlled and improved through software. It is built on the SPA2 platform with an 800-volt electrical system, and it comes in one fully loaded Twin Motor Ultra variant.

Safety and Driver Assistance

According to the company (as reported by ETAuto), the EX90 uses:

  • 5 cameras
  • 5 radars
  • 12 ultrasonic sensors

Driver-assistance and safety features include:

  • A 360-degree camera with 3D view
  • Pilot Assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Occupant sensing technology
  • Collision avoidance systems

Occupant sensing helps detect people inside the cabin, and collision avoidance systems are designed to reduce the risk of an impact or how severe it is.

Cabin and Seating

The India-spec EX90 is six-seat only, with second-row captain's chairs that slide and recline. Autocar India reports that these seats don't get electric adjustment, ventilation, heating or massage. The front seats do get all four. Autocar India also notes that there are no sunshades for the rear windows, but there is a large panoramic sunroof with switchable transparency.
