Royal Enfield's 125th Anniversary Edition is not a new model. It is a special Classic 650 in a colour-shifting Hypershift finish, priced at ₹4,25,589 (ex-showroom) and capped at 125 units in India. Registrations opened on 16 October, and the actual sale is on 28 October at 7 pm IST, inside the Royal Enfield app. If you have been searching for the price, the number of bikes or how to get one, here is what the company and the trade press have confirmed so far.

What is the Royal Enfield 125th Anniversary Edition?

Royal Enfield dates itself to 1901 and calls itself the world's oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production. To mark 125 years it chose its most recognisable shape, the Classic, in 650 twin form. The company first showed the special edition at EICMA in Milan on 4 November 2025, when Royal Enfield chief executive B. Govindarajan described it as a blend of legacy and modern innovation. This week it finally got a price. Royal Enfield's own name for it is the 125th Anniversary Edition Hypershift Classic 650.

The headline is the paint. Royal Enfield describes a brass base, a nod to the earliest bikes of 1901, under a Hypershift finish that changes shade as light moves across the tank. Autocar India, BikeWale and BikeDekho say it moves between red, green and gold, while Royal Enfield's global page says red to gold and bright to dark. In the company's launch photos it reads mostly bronze-gold under studio lights, so it is worth seeing in person before you commit.

A gilded 125 Years crest sits on the side panel, the cannon decal on the tank is part of the tribute, and master artists hand-paint the pinstripes. The single seat is brown, vintage-style leather with quilted stitching. The engine is finished in matte black, and BikeDekho notes that the usual chrome parts are blacked out. A pillion seat comes in the box but is not fitted.

Price: how much more than a regular Classic 650?

The edition costs ₹4,25,589 ex-showroom. BikeDekho gives Chennai as the reference city; Autocar India rounds it to ₹4.26 lakh. Here is where it sits against the rest of the range, using Autocar India's prices for the regular bikes.

Model Price (ex-showroom) Difference vs Hypershift
Classic 650 (Vallam Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue) ₹3.68 lakh about ₹58,000 cheaper
Classic 650 Black Chrome ₹3.82 lakh about ₹43,500 cheaper
Classic 650 125th Anniversary Hypershift ₹4,25,589 -
Super Meteor 650 (Royal Enfield's costliest 650) ₹4.39 lakh about ₹13,000 more

Autocar India and NDTV Profit both stress that nothing mechanical changes, so the premium buys paint, badges, a seat and scarcity. On-road prices will be higher and depend on your state.

Engine and specs: unchanged

The edition uses the regular Classic 650's 648 cc parallel twin. Royal Enfield's page lists 34.6 kW (about 47 PS) at 7,250 rpm and 52.3 Nm at 5,650 rpm. BikeDekho confirms a six-speed gearbox, and BikeWale lists a 243 kg kerb weight, a 14.7-litre tank and 19-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels. Autocar India says the chassis is derived from the Super Meteor 650 but swaps the USD fork for a conventional telescopic one and trims rear shock travel to 90 mm. How to buy: dates, app and booking amount

This is not a walk-into-a-showroom launch. Royal Enfield's India page sets out the process.

One conflict is worth flagging. BikeDekho says the bike can only be booked on Royal Enfield's website, but the company's India page says registration and sale happen only in the app, not on the website. We would go with the company. Name, email and phone number cannot be corrected later, so check them twice.

125 units or 625?

Autocar India, BikeWale and NDTV Profit report 125 units per key region, including India. Royal Enfield's global page says it developed 625 units as a one-time worldwide release, while its India FAQ says only the first 125 buyers will get a bike. The figures fit if there are five regions at 125 each, but we could not find Royal Enfield listing them, so read 625 as the global total and 125 as the India allocation.

Is it worth paying more?

This is a collector's piece rather than a better Classic. If you want the best ride for the money, the regular Classic 650 at ₹3.68 lakh does the same job and leaves about ₹58,000 for accessories. If you want the Classic shape in the most exclusive paint Royal Enfield has made, ₹4.26 lakh is not outlandish, since it is still below the Super Meteor 650. The real hurdles are the 7 pm sale, only 125 bikes for the whole country and a ₹20,000 booking amount you will not get back. Whether limited editions hold their resale value is guesswork, and Royal Enfield makes no promise on it.

Frequently asked questions

How many units of the 125th Anniversary Edition will Royal Enfield sell?

In India only 125 units are on offer, and only the first 125 buyers who pay the booking amount on sale day will get one. Royal Enfield's global page refers to 625 units worldwide, while trade reports say 125 per key region.

When and how can I buy the Royal Enfield 125th Anniversary Edition?

Registration opened on 16 October 2026 at 2 pm IST and is mandatory. The sale starts on 28 October 2026 at 7 pm IST. In India both registration and the sale are in the Drop Zone section of the Royal Enfield app, with a non-refundable ₹20,000 booking amount.

Is the 125th Anniversary Edition different mechanically from the regular Classic 650?

No. Autocar India and BikeDekho say it is mechanically identical. The changes are the Hypershift paint, the 125 Years crest and badging, hand-painted pinstripes and a brown quilted leather seat.

Is there a Royal Enfield 125cc bike?

No. The 125 refers to the company's 125 years, not engine size. The India range on Royal Enfield's website starts at 350 cc models such as the Hunter 350 and Classic 350.
