Until now, if you wanted a factory-fitted CNG compact SUV, there were only two choices: the Tata Nexon CNG and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. The Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG (ZNG), launched on October 15, 2026, makes it three (Autocar India).

Mahindra has now published the XUV 3XO CNG's output, efficiency and price, so this comparison uses official figures for the 3XO. Independent test numbers for the ZNG are not out yet, and the rival figures below come from their makers' published specs as compiled by V3Cars and Autocar India.

Engine approach

Both the Mahindra and the Tata pair CNG with a turbocharged petrol engine. That usually helps with the torque deficit CNG creates. The Brezza uses a larger naturally aspirated engine instead.

Features

The XUV 3XO CNG gets a panoramic Skyroof on the REVX Edge (O) and REVX A, twin 26.03 cm screens from the AX5, Dolby Atmos on the REVX A, and six airbags, ESC and ISOFIX on every variant. The four trims are MX Edge, REVX Edge (O), AX5 and REVX A.

Price positioning

The XUV 3XO CNG costs Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 12.27 lakh (ex-showroom), about Rs 90,000 more than the matching petrol trims. Autocar India notes it has the highest starting price of the three, but publications list different price ranges for the Nexon CNG and Brezza CNG (for example, Autocar India and V3Cars disagree), so check the current prices on their model pages before comparing.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose the XUV 3XO CNG if you want a panoramic sunroof and the strongest torque of the three (200Nm on CNG as on petrol), and can live with a 270-litre boot.
  • Look at the Nexon CNG if you want a turbo-CNG SUV with a bigger boot (321 litres) that you can buy today.
  • Look at the Brezza CNG if you prefer a naturally aspirated engine and Maruti's service network.
