Update, 15 October 2026: Mahindra has launched the factory-fitted XUV 3XO CNG, badged XUV 3XO ZNG, at a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Four manual variants cover ₹9.99–12.27 lakh. Mahindra calls it its first mainstream CNG passenger vehicle, and it becomes the fourth fuel option on the XUV 3XO alongside petrol, diesel and electric. Test drives began on 15 October, and bookings and deliveries begin on 20 October 2026.

The headline claims are a turbo engine that makes the same power and torque on CNG as on petrol, a certified 24.7 km/kg, and twin cylinders packed under the boot floor for 270 litres of luggage space. If you followed our pre-launch coverage, start with the XUV 3XO CNG overview and the price and launch date guide.

XUV 3XO CNG Price: Variant-Wise List

All prices are ex-showroom, from Mahindra's launch announcement.

Variant Ex-showroom price What it adds
MX Edge ZNG ₹9.99 lakh 26.03 cm touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and wired Apple CarPlay, 4 speakers, rear camera, cruise control, rear AC vents, 60:40 split rear seat, steel wheels with covers
REVX Edge (O) ZNG ₹10.79 lakh Over MX Edge: Skyroof (panoramic), roof rails, auto headlamps and wipers, keyless entry, push-button start, black leatherette seats, dual-tone roof, rear armrest with cup holders
AX5 ZNG ₹11.19 lakh Over MX Edge: twin 26.03 cm screens (infotainment and digital cluster), 6 speakers, diamond-cut alloys, single-pane sunroof, LED projector headlamps and DRLs, AdrenoX Connect with Alexa, online navigation, dual-zone climate control, TPMS, rear wiper and defogger
REVX A ZNG ₹12.27 lakh Over AX5: Skyroof, Dolby Atmos, black leatherette seats, body-coloured or gunmetal grille, dual-tone roof, painted black alloys

Against the petrol car, the CNG premium works out to about ₹90,000 on the matching trims. The petrol REVX EDGE (O) manual is ₹9.89 lakh and the petrol AX5 manual is ₹10.30 lakh (see our XUV 3XO price, specs and features guide). The MX Edge ZNG has no petrol twin, and the REVX A petrol uses the stronger 131 PS direct-injection engine, so that pair is not like for like. Note that the REVX Edge (O) and AX5 are different feature sets rather than a simple step up, so compare the table above before paying for the higher trim.

Before launch, media estimates had pointed to roughly ₹8.8–12 lakh. The entry price landed higher than those estimates, while the top end of ₹12.27 lakh is close to them. For monthly cost, see our XUV 3XO EMI and ownership cost article and the on-road price guide.

Engine, Power and Claimed Mileage

Specification XUV 3XO ZNG (Mahindra figures)
Engine 1.2-litre mStallion TCMPFi turbo, bi-fuel petrol + CNG
Power 82 kW @ 5,000 rpm in both CNG and petrol modes (about 110 bhp)
Torque 200 Nm @ 1,500–3,500 rpm in both modes
Gearbox 6-speed manual only
Claimed efficiency 24.7 km/kg (certified, CNG)
0–60 km/h / 0–100 km/h 4.9 s / 11.8 s in CNG mode (company claim)
CNG injection 10-bar system, which Mahindra calls first in its segment
Fuel tanks 60 litres (water equivalent) CNG; 42 litres petrol

Most CNG cars lose power on gas. Mahindra says the XUV 3XO ZNG does not, because of a revised turbocharger calibration and engine mapping. It also claims the highest torque among CNG passenger vehicles in India. These are company figures; we have not driven the car, so treat the performance numbers as claims until independent tests arrive.

The car switches to petrol automatically when CNG runs low, shows average and instant fuel economy on the display, and has an NGV fast-filling valve. A gas-leak detection system switches the car to petrol if it senses a leak. For the engine background, read XUV 3XO CNG engine and mileage.

Running Cost: What 24.7 km/kg Means

At the claimed 24.7 km/kg and a CNG price of about ₹87 per kg (a recent Delhi price quoted by V3Cars), fuel costs roughly ₹3.5 per km. Every ₹10 change in the CNG price moves that by about ₹0.40 per km. Your city's CNG rate and real-world mileage will decide the actual saving, so use this as a guide, not a promise.

Twin-Cylinder Layout and Boot Space

Mahindra has confirmed a twin-cylinder layout beneath the luggage area. It keeps a flat loading floor and gives 270 litres of boot space (ISO V215), with the spare wheel mounted under the body. The regular XUV 3XO is listed at 364 litres on the same basis, so the CNG kit costs about 94 litres of luggage space.

Model Boot space CNG power
XUV 3XO ZNG 270 L 82 kW (about 110 bhp), 200 Nm
Tata Nexon CNG 321 L 100 PS, 170 Nm (V3Cars)
Maruti Brezza CNG 328 L (underbody cylinder) 88 PS (V3Cars)

That is the trade-off. The XUV 3XO ZNG has the most torque of the three but the smallest boot, which Autocar India also points out. Prices for the Nexon CNG and Brezza CNG differ between publications and change often, so check the model pages before comparing: Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza. Our side-by-side is in XUV 3XO CNG vs Nexon CNG vs Brezza CNG.

Features and Safety

The design is unchanged apart from ZNG badging on the tailgate. Mahindra lists a panoramic Skyroof on the REVX Edge (O) and REVX A, twin 26.03 cm screens and a digital cluster on the AX5 and above, and Dolby Atmos on the REVX A. The colour palette is Jeans Blue, Tango Red, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Nebula Blue and Stealth Black.

Every variant gets six airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX as standard, plus rear parking sensors and three-point belts for all passengers. Mahindra says the ZNG is engineered for a 5-star rating and is built on the XUV 3XO, which earned 5 stars in Bharat NCAP for adult and child protection. The ZNG itself has not been separately rated. Some outlets also list a 360-degree camera, but Mahindra's own variant list shows only a rear-view camera, so check on the car before you rely on it. See our XUV 3XO safety rating guide for the crash-test details.

Should You Buy the XUV 3XO CNG?

It suits buyers who drive a lot, want turbo-petrol punch and a sunroof, and can live with a smaller boot. If luggage space matters most, the Nexon CNG and Brezza CNG offer more of it, and the Brezza CNG lists a higher claimed mileage (26.90 km/kg per V3Cars). If you need an automatic, there is no CNG option yet. The MX Edge is the cheapest way in, while the REVX Edge (O) gets the panoramic sunroof for ₹80,000 more. For the full range, see the Mahindra XUV 3XO product page, and for how the trims compare, read XUV 3XO variants explained. Also see the REVX EDGE launch report.
